Music Tingkilan

Art music is typical of the tribe Kutai Tingkilan music, this art has in common with Malays grove art. Musical instruments used are Gambus (a kind guitar berdawai 6), ketipung (like small drums), percussion (a drum and a large patch of skin) and the violin.
Tinan music accompanied by song called betingkilan. Betingkilan itself means tingkahan or bertingkahgkil-bersahut-replication. In the past often performed by two male and female singers as bersahut-song answer to the content of advice, romance, praise each other, or even sarcastic to each other or the mocking each other with words funny. Tingkilan music is often used to accompany folk dances of Kutai association, namely Jepen Dance.
